Pöyry Infra Traffic GmbH

Pöyry Infra Traffic GmbH is a traffic and transport engineering consultancy with offices in Hamburg and Munich (Germany) and 50 employees. In 2001, the company has emerged from the German road traffic engineering consultancy Heusch/Boesefeldt GmbH when it partly was taken over by the Finnish JAAKKO PÖYRY INFRA group.

Pöyry Infra Traffic is active in the field of road traffic engineering, transport telematics and transport planning. The company has had a leading role in planning of road transport telematics systems and services in Germany, and has been involved for some decades in designing, planning and implementing traffic control systems and software in the traffic control centres for the federal German motorway system. Furthermore, the company has taken on a leading role in many European research and development projects in the area of network control, driver information, vehicle monitoring and detection, data communication, control and information centres etc. within the last ten years.

The staff of Pöyry Infra Traffic has an established track-record of performance with the European Commission and has managed many large European collaborative projects. Detailsof relevant projects are given below:
  • Pöyry Infra Traffic has been involved in the Euroregional ITS projects VIKING, CORVETTE, CONNECT and CENTRICO in several different roles and subprojects.
    In VIKING, Pöyry Infra traffic represent German in the common international working groups on traffic monitoring, the European network of traffic centres, ITS systems architecture and freight and fleet management. Pöyry Infra Traffic is also the German project manager for the ITS projects VIKING, CORVETTE and CONNECT.
  • Pöyry Infra Traffic support the international working group of the Euroregional ITS projects in Traffic Monitoring.
  • The company has largely been involved in the European Framework programmes for research and development, mainly in the fields of transport, traffic management and telematics since the 3rd framework programme. Examples for the projects are:
    CAPITALS ITTS/ CAPITALS PLUS/ CAPITALS (implementation of traffic management services in Brussels, Berlin, Paris, Madrid and Rome), SCOPE (traffic management services for Cologne, Southampton, Piräus), EUROSCOPE (traffic management services for Cologne, Southampton, Piräus, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Cork, Genoa) RHAPIT (traffic management in the Rhein-Main Area), ENTERPRICE (traffic management/ information services in Hessen, Schwitzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark and Greece), THEMIS (traffic information service for freight transport), SAFE-T (study on tunnel safety), PRIVILEGE (priorities in road transport), DIATS (co-operative driving).

Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Dubbert is a transport engineer and project manager who has been with Heusch/Boesefeldt and Pöyry Infra Traffic for 15 years.

Contribution in ROADIDEA:
Pöyry is Work Package leader of validation and evaluation, taking part in all technical WPs.
