Destia (formerly Finnish Road Enterprise) is the market leader in traffic related services in Finland and a globally recognized forerunner in development of weather sensitive road traffic information services. It provides solutions and services for the government and authorities, industry, trade and citizens. Services include the planning, development, construction, management and maintenance of traffic routes, environment and services, as well as related products, solutions and consulting. With a history of over 250 years of road maintenance, Destia has always been a pioneer in developing new ways for improving quality, safety and productivity in traffic related services.
Providing telematics services such as road user information and traffic analysis which utilise information and communication technologies have been one of the areas of strongest growth in Destia’s business strategy. Destia generates traffic information by combining manually processed data, such as location based road condition prognosis and event information with traffic data generated automatically from different sources, such as road sensor networks, probe vehicles and road cameras. Utilising this information Destia has developed a range of traffic information products, which are supplied to map application providers, personal navigation device manufacturers, mobile operators, mobile device manufacturers, web portals, media providers, logistics and fleet operators, traffic consultants as well as to government and local authorities.
Destia is spending over one per cent of its turnover on research and development each year, incl. intelligent transportation system related research. In its Vision 2010, Destia envisages a net profit of 4% and turnover of EUR 700 million, with over 5% of turnover generated by foreign operations.
Destia has designed and built the content management system of the traffic information service, Traffic Information Platform, together with WM-Data. The content management system gathers, combines and delivers traffic related data from different sources to various
delivery channels and applications.
Mr. Tuomo Eloranta (M.Sc. in Traffic Engineering) is a manager in Destia. He has experience in both the traffic engineering and information services fields. He has also worked as an expert in the European Union for 3 years.
Ms. Hanne Rantala (M.Sc. in Planning Geography, B.S. in Geoinformation and Positioning Technology) is a planner in Destia. She has taken part in several EU projects and R&D activities.
Mr. Jussi Kiuru (M.Sc. in Sociology) works as a manager in Destia. He has expertise in telematics service development and has participated in several international mobile technology projects.

Destia is the WP leader of WP6 Creation of pilot services. Destia also provides the project with its technical platform for pilot services.
